I have to admit, I’m still feeling major post-vacation blues after this trip. We had been talking about it and looking forward to it for so long, had such an incredible time every single day, and now we’re all a little sad that it’s over.
So we may already be making plans to hopefully go back in a few years. 😉
Our first flight left at 6 am for Chicago. No one had any trouble jumping out of bed that early morning.
Our flight from Chicago to Honolulu was delayed 3 hours for technical problems. We boarded, deboarded, reboarded, and finally took off.
9 hours later, we landed in Honolulu to blissfully warm weather (our sweatshirts came off right after this picture).
We checked into our resort and headed down to grab a late dinner.
We even managed to catch some of the luau that was going on there that evening.
The next morning we were down at the pool by 9:00 am, ready to embrace the warmth and sunshine.
After sufficiently swimming in almost every pool/hot tub, we headed to the beach.
After a very fun day in the sun (which resulted in sunburn…those Hawaiian UV rays weren’t playin) we cleaned up for dinner.
The view wasn’t too bad.
No complaints about the food either.
The following day was just as beautiful. Only this time, some of us decided to wear shirts to ward off some of those crazy rays.
We absolutely loved floating in the lagoon. The water temperature was perfect, we could see the bottom as well as colorful fish swimming beneath us, and we could float over waves without the fear of being sucked into the ocean.
After awhile we headed in to the pool followed by a shave ice break. We consumed a lot of shave ice on this trip.
After another full day in the sun, we cleaned up and walked across the street to what soon became one of our favorite places: MonkeyPod (thanks for the rec Jordan!!)
On the way back to our room we stopped to grab a picture at this same location from our honeymoon, almost 20 years later. ❤️ Better picture quality, same cargo shorts.
