This was our biggest Disney Day. We were at the park at 8:00 am and stayed until the fireworks ended at 8:15 pm. It was a very full, very busy day with both sunshine and thunderstorms, but we had so. much. fun. We also had a combined family total of over 100,000 steps, meaning we all walked a little over 10 miles (except Tess).
We were actually thankful for the clouds because it was a hot one when the sun would peak out! The clouds made it a very pleasant temperature.
One fun parent allowed the teacup to spin at high velocity levels. The other boring parent could only tolerate a gentle spin without their breakfast making an embarrassing reappearance. The kids chose which type of teacup ride they preferred.
Thankfully I didn’t have to ride in a boring old teacup by myself. Also Tess was under the impression that there was going to be a loud noise at the end, so she remained prepared throughout the entire ride.
Tess wanted to hop right back on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train when it was done.
But she settled for the carousel,
and then was in complete awe of “It’s A Small World”.
The last time Grace was at Disney she was only 2, so she and Tessa were just loving it all.
We were very fortunate at this moment. The bigger kids and I went on Space Mountain while Ben took Tessa to Dumbo. The play area wasn’t open yet when we had been on the ride earlier, but we told her we’d come back. Well, it started thundering while they were in there, so they had to shut the ride down but she could continue playing in the play area. There was only a handful of other families inside with them, and since the ride was shut down they wouldn’t let any more in. We were allowed to join them after Space Mountain, and shortly after we got inside it started POURING outside. I mean, a complete torrential downpour. But we were safe inside this mostly empty play area the entire time. And then we were first in line to take another spin on Dumbo when the rain stopped.
We then found a perfectly shady spot to catch the Festival of Fantasy parade (side note- we had such a good time with the family next to us- the girl who’s staring right at me. Lots of laughter- they were so great!).
That constant little wave was my favorite thing to watch. 🥰
Right after the parade we hopped on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, where it started raining on us right at the very end of the ride! So we all got a little wet, but it was so warm that it didn’t bother anyone. In fact, they all thought it was pretty fun. And thankfully I had purchased a whole pack of ponchos on Amazon before we left juuuuuuust in case.
Of course we had dinner reservations right after that, so we showed up to this nice fancy restaurant looking like drowned rats. But so did everyone else, so we were in good company.
We then hopped on Tessa’s favorite ride that she had been waiting for all day- Splash Mountain. And got wet again.
Grace was prepared though.
We then made our way to the castle to watch Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire.
We really liked our seats, so we decided to hang onto them for the fireworks show. We were right on a fence and by a pillar, so the kids could sit high enough to see everything and no one was crowding us from behind or the side. PRAISE.
Ben had so many people comment/ take pictures of his shirt. 😂
We even managed to find some friends in this insane crowd of people! Carlos works for Ben and goes to our church. He and his wife, Haili, and their three kiddos were in Florida at the same time and decided to do Magic Kingdom for the day! We were so happy to watch the fireworks together and have more people to help save our spots…we had prime real estate for this shindig (also, please note that Elias is not intentionally giving me the middle finger. I don’t think. 😉).
The show was spectacular.
We had another moment of great fortune as we were exiting the fireworks show. They opened up a back road behind all the shops on Main Street- and there were absolutely no people on it! We bypassed that entire sea of people trying to make their way out of the park. It was unreal.
Another successful day at Disney.
