So, I seriously have no idea how I’m 40. I remember thinking 40 sounded so old– and I considered people who were 40 to be just one small step away from walkers and wearing your pants too high.
Turns out, 40 is actually not that old. Or maybe it is….but you’re only as old as you feel and I don’t feel old yet.
I had all kinds of plans to celebrate my 40th. My mom, Kelly and I were going to go to Texas together. Our family was going to go on a Disney cruise (one of my absolute favorite vacations) and swim with dolphins. But Covid killed those plans, so we thought a week at Disney World would be fun instead.
Well, things didn’t exactly turn out that way. Instead of these fun trips, I spent my 40th at Mayo Clinic while Tessa had her fourth round of sclerotherapy. And while that wasn’t exactly an ideal way to spend a birthday, I was right where I needed to be that day.
All week, Claire had been working hard on something in our basement for my birthday. We decided to celebrate it the following day as sclerotherapy days are not easy.
She put up black paper and this subtle note so there was no peaking whatsoever.
These two came upstairs to get me when everything was ready.
Since we couldn’t go on the cruise, Claire created the cruise experience right at home. ❤️🖤
And it was the absolute sweetest celebration ever.
