On Saturday Ben offered to take all the kids to Claire’s horse lesson as an early Mother’s Day gift. Which left me all alone in my house. Where no one was asking me for a snack. Or to help them get something from a shelf. Or to untie a jumprope. Or to get them a drink. Or to follow along with their dance routine. It was bliss.
I’m currently working on some projects in our kitchen, so I went right to work to take advantage of the uninterrupted time. It was the perfect little break.
On Sunday morning I was given the cutest handmade cards and gifts, a bouquet of flowers, and my favorite cake. It doesn’t get much better than that, right?
Iowa is allowing religious gatherings, so our church has started having morning services again. So for the first time in weeks I actually got dressed up to go somewhere. And we finally got out those Easter outfits. The rest of the day was pretty relaxed, and left me feeling incredibly thankful and blessed for my little family. Motherhood is challenging, but so incredibly rewarding and fulfilling. Those four little people are the most precious gifts that I’ve ever been given. For some, however, Mother’s Day is a hard day, and those moms were definitely on my mind throughout the day. 💗
