We came from Ohio for a few days and squeezed in some boat time.
And added another driver to the family. HELP. US. ALL.
For real though- this kid is way too little to be driving. Literally. But he’s certainly not letting that stop him.
Our next trip was just me and the little girls, and we flew out to NJ for a special wedding. We also kept up-to-date with the Olympics.
We stayed at a hotel with Grammy, Pop Pop and our cousins- and hardly any other people. So we had the pool to ourselves.
The wedding wasn’t until 4, so we had all morning to relax. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t want to cooperate for the wedding, and at the last minute the ceremony needed to be moved into the reception tent due to the dark clouds and lightning that was headed our way as we sat like sitting ducks in an open field.
But it was fine and these two were happily married. 🤍 And the rest of the evening was beautiful.
Grace was ALL IN for the bouquet toss.
We visited with friends, we ate good food, we danced, and we loved celebrating Jack and Erin.
Our flight was later the following day, so we all slept in (and completely missed the hotel breakfast) and then hung out with my parents before they dropped us off at the airport. We made a fun stop at the candy store that I worked at for several years as a teenager.
It looks exactly the same.
It was the best job- eat all the candy you want, dress up and hand out candy apples on Halloween, and even “bring your sister to work day”.
All the candy is made in the factory above the store, so I took the girls up there to see all the machines. They don’t make candy in the summer, but it was still fun to see everything- including the chocolate belts where I ate so many peanut butter eggs that I was sick all night.
Then it was time to head to the airport.
Our flight was delayed an hour and half as we were in the security line. Then we noticed these dark, foreboding clouds out the window and our flight was delayed further due to a severe thunderstorm warning. We finally got on the plane and taxied onto the runway, where about 15 other plans were waiting to take off and another round of storms arrived causing us to sit there for THREE HOURS before finally taking off. And then we had to drive home from Minneapolis, so we didn’t end up getting home until 2 in the morning. But we made it safely, and our beds never felt so good.
And Grace and I only had 4 days to recover before boarding another flight for trip #5. 😂
