For Grace’s 10th birthday, we decided to take advantage of being an hour and a half away from Disney and head to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
Aunt Kel got her a special shirt for her birthday,
and Grammy found cute ones for the rest of us. Since the Christmas party went until midnight, we decided to stay right next door to Magic Kingdom at the Contemporary Resort. We got all checked into our room, found a birthday pin for Grace, checked out the Contemporary’s gingerbread creation, and had some dinner before making our way to Magic Kingdom.
Ya’ll. We have only done Disney with my mom two times. And we have only ever been really cold at Disney two times. I’m starting to think the two are connected….
We grabbed a quick picture before we went in the park to document our cute shirts. Because we were already freezing and needed all the layers.
We entered the park and decided to catch the Frozen show. Especially since we were already in the frozen mindset. 🥶
Then it was off to the rides.
The Christmas parade is one of my favorite parades ever, so we wanted to make sure to get a front row seat for it. Grammy staked our claim, and we did some shopping (for blankets and more sweatshirts- it was now around 45 degrees) and grabbed the “free” hot chocolate and cookies.
After the parade, we did more rides, had more hot chocolate and cookies, and watched more fireworks.
My mom doesn’t do fast/spinny/wild rides. But we convinced her that the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train roller coaster wasn’t too fast or wild. 😏 She’s the one in the white pom pom hat screaming and holding on for dear life.
My mom and Tess headed to Dumbo and the Barnstormer while the bigger girls and I did Space Mountain and Tron. Tron is the newest ride at Magic Kingdom and it’s incredible.
We left the park around 12:45 in the morning, and walked to our room where we all scalded our skin in the hottest showers ever. Despite the cold, it was such an incredibly fun night.
The following morning we slept in and then headed down for breakfast where we opted out of the super expensive character dining and just looked over the wall at the characters instead for 1/4 of the price. iykyk.
We walked the path from the Contemporary to the Floridian to check out their gingerbread house. Word to the wise: do not purchase the gingerbread mickey with chocolate ears. Maybe it was a tree ornament disguising itself as a cookie, but it tasted like a kitchen sponge. 10/10 don’t recommend.
Living her best 10 year old life.
Next we headed to Disney Springs, where Grace was mortified when the talking Christmas tree sang happy birthday to her. Oh, and Grammy and Tessa also raced said Christmas tree. It was a good time.
Couldn’t have asked for a more magical way to spend her 10th birthday!

Oh what fun! The perfect celebration for 10 whole years of life 😍
Grammy looks like a body guard staking your claim for the parade. She might bring the cold, but ain’t nobody gonna mess with Grammy Ice 🧊
