I haven’t done a “Tough Like Tessa” post in awhile….because things with her have been smooth sailing for awhile. And we have been so thankful.
During her last visit with her team at Mayo, they decided that they next course of action for Tessa would be surgery on the malformation on her leg/groin. This area continues to grow, and if left untreated would eventually cause serious complications. Her skin is in great condition now for surgery on that area, so we decided to proceed sooner rather than later when recovery could be much more difficult or a problem could arise.
Today we will be checking into Mayo at 6 am for an extensive debulking surgery. Tessa is both excited and nervous about the surgery. She is excited to have her mass become smaller as it does bother her quite a bit and she “wants to be like us and the other kids at school” (😞 💔) but she is also nervous about the pain after her surgery. Her surgeons will not be able to remove all of the excess soft tissue in one surgery, however. Removing too much at once can cause major disruptions in her lymphatic channels, so her surgeons will proceed with caution.
We cannot say thank you enough for all the prayers that have already gone up for our sweet girl. God has proven faithful time and time again with Tessa, and we continue to put her life in His hands.
