Today I’m linking up with Shay and Erika to talk about our holiday menu. I mean, who doesn’t love holiday meals and overeat at them every single time?
We travel for Thanksgiving- and I have two sisters-in-law who love the kitchen, so I just show up with the corn. Because ain’t nobody got time for corn that comes out of a can when you have perfectly frozen sweet corn.
These three do most of the cooking, while the rest of us occupy kids and show up to assist every now and then.
And this is my Uncle D, otherwise known as the official turkey carver.
We pretty much eat the same fantastic meal every Thanksgiving:
Two turkeys: one in the oven, one deep fried.
Sweet potato casserole (I love this recipe)
Mashed potatoes (This is the best slow cooker mashed potato recipe):
Green bean casserole
Corn
Stuffing
Cranberry relish
Corn bread
Salad
Various selection of pies
White cake with white icing for non-pie people like myself
About 22 assorted flavors of ice cream (my sister-in-law makes sure we have a nice selection)
Who knows what Covid has in store for this Thanksgiving, but we’ll make the most of it no matter what. And still eat all the food.

They sure come in handy sometimes.

We keep our mashed potatoes nice and warm in our crock pot too! My mother in law tipped me off to that a few years back and even gave me some disposable crock pot liners so I have one less pan to clean that day.
