Last year I decided to update our little plastic playhouse that we keep on the deck. This has been a great spot for the kids to play when they’re little and I can’t be outside with them. They have loved playing there while I’m getting dinner ready or finishing laundry- it’s a perfect little spot. Well, my cute little “update” completely ruined the playhouse. 🤦🏽♀️I followed all the directions to properly prep and prepare the house, gave it several coats of spray paint that claimed to bond to plastic, followed that up with a top coat….and it ALL chipped off. Inside, outside, in places that weren’t even exposed to weather. If you even walked near the house and breathed normally paint would chip off. If you looked at the house the wrong way paint would chip off. It was making such a huge mess (and irritating me every time I looked at it because I wasted several hours of my life on that thing) that we finally just got rid of it. Thankfully we had gotten many years of use from it already…but our kids still used it, especially Grace and Tess. Since we cancelled all of our spring travel plans, we decided to get Tess an early birthday present instead, and went with a cute little wooden house this time.I did paint this one too, but it’s wood, not plastic- so I shouldn’t have to worry about all this hard work chipping right off in a few months. The only plastic parts are the windows and the inside accessories, and I left them alone. Everything else I covered with a couple coats of outdoor paint and primer. This one is so much cuter than the old one, and of course the kids have been loving it. So, to anyone who has had success spray painting their plastic playhouse, I salute you. But my plastic spray paint days are behind me forever.

Ben and I have both agreed that we like how this one looks on our deck so much better than the old one. So, maybe a little blessing in disguise that I ruined the first one? 😏😂
