Christmas Eve had us doing our usual festivities with Ben’s family: dinner at Bonefish followed by presents at his parent’s house. We ended the night with very unusual events, however, but we’ll get to that later.
There was also a cookie decorating contest. With perhaps some slightly biased judging.
While we were chatting and enjoying dessert, it started to rain outside. A few minutes later, my mom called from our condo saying that the ocean was currently covering the pool area and parking garage. The ocean wasn’t even close to my in-law’s house, which is only about a mile down the beach from the condo. We packed up and headed back, and were met with very watery conditions.
Apparently a huge rogue wave came crashing into the condo- it picked up heavy wooden lounge chairs from the beach which crashed right through the fence of the condo’s pool area and parking lot.
The pool, hot tub, and parking lot were full of sand and ocean water. Of course 2020 wasn’t going out without a fight.
After Ben, my Dad, and a couple other guys cleaned up what they could and the kids all got cleaned up and in their Christmas pj’s (Tessa slipped in the parking lot and was soaking wet and sobbing) we all settled down and watched Rudolph. It was a memorable evening.
But thankfully Santa still showed up,
and there were some very excited kiddos.
I don’t know about you, but watching how excited my kids are to hand out THEIR gifts (especially those Santa Secret Shoppe gifts) is one of my most favorite things.
It was a cold beach day (like, 55 degrees cold) but that’s just how I like it on Christmas Day. There’s nothing better than a relaxing Christmas morning- enjoying a big breakfast, watching the kids play with their new toys, and listening to Christmas music. I love it. Later that afternoon, however, we decided to get some fresh air and look for seashells.
We had a nice dinner, started working on a puzzle, and finished watching Rudolph. And Jingle kindly reminded us of the true reason for the season. ❤️💚

Of course there would be a rogue wave to end out 2020! Glad it all got sorted though.
Looks like the most perfect Christmas otherwise. And yes, Christmas with kids is the best! Even if they’re too young to really get it 😉
