Since the kids are going back to school full time today (almost- we still have Wednesdays off) I thought I’d do one last “homeschool day in the life” for us to remember these days.
I documented our day last Monday- and just an FYI- it’s pretty boring. But here we go!
I usually wake up around 6 on non-school days and I always work out right away. If it doesn’t get done first thing in the morning, it’s not going to happen (also, I most definitely workout WITH music- I just hadn’t switched it on yet. Does anyone seriously exercise without music?!)
Then I hopped in the shower and got ready, ate breakfast and did my devotionals/prepping for the day.
The sun starts coming up at this time-around 7:00, which also starts waking up some children.
Max is always the first one up, and he just quietly plays on his ipad while he waits for everyone else. Tessa is usually next, and stops in the bathroom for a hair tie as soon as she comes down so I can tame the blonde mane.
Grace is next, only coming down after she has perfectly made her bed and straightened up her room. She’s my little neat freak- praises be.
Max had a Zoom meeting every morning at 8, which he casually attended in his pj’s.
By this time, everyone was ready for some breakfast. Except for one, who was still sleeping.
Claire is our late sleeper, and showed up for breakfast around 8:45.
Everyone got dressed and started in on their school work by 9.
And were finished by 10. Not too bad for a school day.
So I helped fill the rest of their time with a few chores. I will say, that is definitely one thing I will miss about them being home so much!
Meanwhile, the youngest just got to do whatever she wanted to do….
While they were cleaning, I started working on dinner, as it was our night to take food to the guys in the field.
And of course there was laundry,
and lunch, where I only took a picture of my half finished banana mango smoothie.
The weather was so strange this day, and couldn’t decide if it wanted to be sunny or rainy. We went back and forth all day long.
When it wasn’t raining, the kids played with the kittens for a bit
and I got dinner all ready the deliver to the guys. Thankfully they were close by, so I just had to deliver it to their work shed right down the road instead of driving to some far away field. And please note that I only shop at Target so I can have those nice plastic bags to make meal deliveries.
The kids and I ate our dinner after we got back.
We played in the basement for a bit,
(correction: Max played, I supervised) and then headed up for showers and baths.
The kids all watched a show while I finished up some laundry and made sure everything was ready for the following day.
After books and bed, I straightened up the living room and kitchen. Because if my day starts with a messy kitchen, it just doesn’t go well for anyone.
Ben came home and we chatted for a bit before watching an episode of NCIS.
And went to bed around 10:30.😴 Not too exciting of a day, just the usual busyness of life. And I’d just like to add that during this day Grace was tired and cranky and tripped over a branch twice (resulting in a bloody leg and lots of tears), Tessa got mad when I wouldn’t do what she wanted, Max complained about doing the chores, and Claire spilled all over the floor. So don’t ever think that our house is all sunshine and roses with a mom who has it all together all the time. Because it’s not. But we just continue to trudge on and do the best that we can. ❤️

Love how organized you are, my inspiration! Certainly helps when things don’t go right all the time 🙂 Also, I totally agree that coming down to a clean kitchen is life changing.
