Our first year of high school and middle school track has come to an end, and we officially understand track meets now. And we love them. Which is a good thing, because Claire and Max loved track too.
Claire is a sprinter. And in her first year of track she only ran for JV her first meet. After that, she ran varsity. Her favorite race is the 100 m dash, and her best time this season was 14.35, which is awesome. Her goal before next year is to get that time down to under 14 seconds. She loves being in the sprint medley as well, and won a medal for that race this season. She loved being part of her track team, and this season was so incredible for her confidence.
Max is a hurdler and a sprinter. And yes, he shocked everyone with how well he could glide over the hurdles due to his *ahem* lack of height. But somehow he never hit a hurdle. Middle school medals and ribbons are a little easier to obtain than varsity, and he now has a nice collection of track awards in his room. His team was very talented, winning 1st place in most of their meets and taking home 2nd at their conference.
We attended about 3 meets each week- some warm, some very cold.
We loved having people watching with us, and the girls loved having friends (and bleachers) to play with.
I’m so proud of how hard they worked and how they tried new things.
And now I’m glad to have a break from concession stand food.
Aw, I love this! Way to go, Max & Claire! Track was the only sport I ever did 🤣 but it was always so much fun!! And I love that it was a boost of confidence for Claire ❤️
