The front of our Airbnb had a very extravagant entrance, perfect for a “wearing our Sunday best” photo op. We went to church and ran into old friends and met new ones. It was such a fun day!
We grabbed some authentic, delicious Mexican food and headed back to swim and play.
That evening we headed to TopGolf.
I golfed, but this is what I really went for:
The next morning, Chelsea and I decided that we needed to hike Camelback Mountain (the same mountain the boys hiked) because who knows when we would have this chance again, and the previous evening’s d0nut hole extravaganza needed to be taken care of. We convinced the older girls to join us and left at 7 am in order to beat the heat. The boys told us the first 15 minutes were hard, but then it got a lot easier.
THEY LIED.
This sign should have been the first red flag.
And this part should have been the second.
But with several drink/catch-your-breath breaks (for me and Chelsea…Claire was like a Red-Bull infused mountain goat), we made it to the top.
And it was pretty spectacular.
We felt pretty proud and accomplished.
Unfortunately, when we were close to the summit another couple coming down warned us that there was an unconscious hiker just ahead of us and people were actively performing CPR on him. They told us we could hike around them, but just wanted to warn us so we wouldn’t be shocked by it. We did see them, and there was a large crowd around helping the hiker. They had already called 911 and were waiting for help to arrive.
We watched as a helicopter arrived to survey the scene and see if they could get the man off the mountain. Several first responders arrived as we were on our way down and began helping the man, who we also watched get airlifted off the mountain. It was a very, very sad scene to witness. The man was rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately we later learned that he did not make it.
It was a stark reminder of the uncertainty of life. I have prayed for his family several times, as I can’t imagine what an awful day that was for them.
After we got back we had lunch, packed some snacks and drinks, and headed to Saguaro Lake for the afternoon.
We loved the views!
We found the perfect rock for cliff jumping, and the kids jumped over and over and over.
We headed back to the house feeling so grateful for all the incredible adventures we had and memories we made the last week.
And of course we enjoyed one more night swim. ❤️
A Red Bull infused mountain goat 😂 oh to be 16! What an awesome day this was!
A fun packed vacation ! A big hike and then to relax!
