Way back in the spring when everyone was in lockdown, birthday parades started popping up as an alternative to birthday parties. We attended one for Grace’s friend in April, and Grace commented about how fun she thought it would be to have one on her birthday. Little did I know that Covid would still be out of control in December. Silly me.
Even though we chose not to do a birthday party with friends like she had hoped, she still declared her birthday to be the BEST DAY EVER.
Last night as as 6 year old. Why does 7 sound so big?
She woke up to a new birthday outfit and just a few balloons.
Since we’re still doing hybrid learning, her birthday fell on a virtual day, which I loved!
We ate all her favorite things all day long, starting with homemade cinnamon rolls.
She opened her presents and played for a bit before…
she had to do some school work. But she got it done quickly and went back to playing.
And parade prepping.
After her favorite lunch, we decorated gingerbread/chocolate/oreo houses.
After all the sugar, we headed outside to burn some of it off by lining our long driveway with luminaries.
It was a perfect Gracie sky.
We ate her favorite dinner of spaghetti and meatballs, enjoyed a strawberry cake, and then bundled up and grabbed some hot chocolate before heading outside for her parade.
We loved seeing the luminaries all lit up along our very dark driveway!
I didn’t do great at taking pictures of her parade because I was too busy chatting and enjoying seeing all the cars show up. But seriously, this was SO. MUCH. FUN.
Grace loved every second and has decided she wants one next year, Covid or no Covid.
She celebrated her birthday at school with cake pops the day before her birthday, and the day after her birthday she roller skated in PE and went shopping at the Santa Secret Shoppe. I’d say her 7th birthday is one she’ll remember forever. 💗
