A few members of my “mom tribe” turned 40 this year. We originally planned on going to Nashville to celebrate this milestone, but along with everyone else in the world, Covid ruined our plans. One friend’s birthday was in May, when things were still in lock down. The other one just turned 40, and we decided we all needed a little mini getaway. Enter: Galena, IL.
Filled with cute boutiques and delicious food, it’s the perfect spot for a girls getaway. We rented an airbnb right on Main Street, so we were able to walk everywhere and enjoy the beautiful weather.
(Sidenote: one tribe member wasn’t able to come. 😔 We missed you big time Jana!)
Inside dining still isn’t allowed in Galena, but thankfully the weather was nice and outside dining was beautiful. Except for at breakfast. Then you dine with bees.
We slept in, ate chocolate in bed (ahem-Becky), enjoyed all the breakfast items we wanted, and did some more shopping. It was glorious.
On the way home we stopped to take in the gorgeous fall colors surrounding the mighty Mississippi (after I almost sent us flying off a cliff right into the Mississippi that is. I’m not sure I’ll be chosen as designated driver next time).
It was such a fantastic little getaway full of everything we needed: relaxation, good food that we didn’t have to cook ourselves, retail therapy, and of course ALL THE LAUGHTER.
Already looking forward to the next adventure of the “Tired Moms Club”. ❤️
