Today, Ben’s Grandma Margaret is walking the streets of Heaven with her Savior. Her body will be placed in the ground after 96 years on this earth, but her soul is at peace forever.
The times I saw Margaret smile the biggest was when she was watching the kids. She always wanted to hold them and hug them, and was content to just watch them play. They loved to play with the dolls, stuffed animals, and little wooden bikes and chairs that she used for decorations at her house. They would move them all over the place and make a mess of everything, but she never complained. She just smiled and let them do their thing. When she was able, we would take her to the park for lunch and she would happily push someone on a swing or catch someone off a slide. And then when walking became harder, she would sit in the shade and just watch them run around.
The last time we saw her was through a window on her birthday. The kids made her a big card and waved and sang to her as she wiped tears from her eyes. I know she would have loved nothing more than to give them all one last hug. But I’m thankful that today she is in the arms of Jesus.
