Tessa had an amazing summer. She was healthy, happy, and thoroughly enjoying life. She also decided that maybe it’s time to get serious about this whole walking business.
In April, she couldn’t stand on her legs without support, and she was still scooting around the house on her belly.
Fast forward to today:
She crawls on her hands and knees without a problem.
She pulls herself up to any surface.
She climbs on everything and anything.
She cruises along furniture.
She stands up on her own.
She uses her gait trainer without the seat.
She walks while only holding onto one of my hands.
And just last week, she took several steps completely unassisted.
Talk about making up for lost time! This girl is ready to ROLL.
Thank you for thinking of and praying for our girl.
It’s amazing to see her fully enjoying life after struggling so much last year, and we are so incredibly thankful.
She heads back to Mayo in a few weeks for more imaging, and then we meet with her doctors the first week of October.
Current prayer requests for her would be:
1.) That she can avoid any serious illnesses (which gets tricky as the kids are back in school and we head into fall and winter)
2.) That she continues to drink her formula orally (this formula is vital to her health- if she stops drinking it orally she’ll need to have an ng tube placed again)
3.) For the malformation in her groin to decrease in size. While the malformation in her abdomen has decreased in size, the ones in her groin have increased quite a bit in the last year. It’s not an area that can have sclerotherapy as the cysts are just too small, so she will eventually need surgery. We would like to wait for this to happen for as long as possible, but if the area continues to grow in size it may need to happen sooner rather than later.
Thank you again for the care and concern that so many have shown for Tessa- it means more to us than we could ever hope to express!
