Today is Cloves Syndrome Awareness Day (as well as my brother’s anniversary and my father-in-law’s birthday….so happy anniversary and birthday to you guys😉)!
Tessa thinks this is a pretty great day. But does she always think having Cloves Syndrome is great? No. She’s becoming increasingly aware of the fact that her body doesn’t look like everyone else’s. Sometimes that doesn’t bother her at all, and sometimes it does. She’s also not a huge fan when her malformations give her limitations- like not being able to jump off a high diving board, or not being able to go down the huge slip and slide 175 times like everyone else. But we look at her and just think of how miraculous it is that she can even WALK, because 6 years ago we didn’t know if that was even going to be a possibility.
God has worked some pretty incredible things in her little body, and we are so thankful for all the things she CAN do.
I absolutely love these shirts from Cloves Syndrome Community. Tessa is, without a doubt, all of those adjectives.
We are in the “wait and see” period of treatments for her. She can always have more sclerotherapy done (she still has many, many fluid-filled cysts in her abdomen and groin), but right now we’d rather just wait until that’s necessary. The cysts aren’t causing any complications at the moment, so there’s no point in putting her through that painful process. Thankfully her doctors at Mayo are a quick phone call or message away if we ever have concerns, and they are always in agreement with us to hold off on procedures.
And as always, thank you for all of your prayers for her over the last 7 years- we would never be where we are today without them. 💚🍀
