We’ll return to the travel diaries on Monday, but first- a few favorites from the week.
Favorite picture:
As much as I loved being away and enjoying time with family, it felt so good to be home. And even though the inside of my home has been a wreck all week, the outside looks pretty fantastic. So we’ll just enjoy that.
Favorite kid quote:
Claire, after finding her outdoor cat’s kittens: “I can’t believe I’m a kitty grammy. This is amazing.”
Favorite clothing item:
Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be shopping for face masks at Gap, yet here we are. So far these have held up really well through sweat and multiple washes. And yes, they are very wrinkly when they come out of the washer but I am not ironing my face mask. #aintnobodygottimeforthat
Favorite food:
This is our favorite salad dressing, and it only takes a few minutes to whip it up:
3/4 c canola oil
1/4 c cider vinegar
2 tbsp yellow mustard
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 c sugar
1/2 small onion
3/4 tsp poppy seeds
Place all ingredients except for poppy seeds in blender and process until smooth, and then stir in poppy seeds.
Favorite verse:
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:5
Favorite moment:
While we were away, my mother-in-law informed us that Claire’s outdoor cat, Luna, looked like she was pregnant. And then she noticed that her stomach wasn’t big anymore, so she knew she had her kittens somewhere. Claire could not wait to get home and find them. After being unsuccessful at finding them the first day we returned, she and Grace made a map that evening and packed a bag (complete with snacks for Luna and themselves) and set off the next morning in search of kittens. After about 5 minutes Max came running up the house to tell me they had found 5 kittens in the grass by the river. They were so excited, and spent the entire day setting up a new, more protected spot for the kittens and coming up with their names: Oreo, Callie, Precious, Cleo, and Karen (yes, Max named his kitten Karen). I’m not a huge animal person, but these kittens really are the cutest little things.
