Our kids have chores that they do every day. These chores aren’t for money, but simply jobs that are expected of them to help out at home. Their every day chores include:
- Make bed
- Brush teeth
- Put pajamas/clothes in hamper
- Set/clear the table
- Straighten up living room at the end of the day
Every Saturday, they are given chores to do that, if done well and with a good attitude, they can earn money for. I write all the jobs that need to get done on our big chalkboard wall, and they work their way through the list. These chores usually include:
- Emptying all the trashcans and putting in new bags
- Dusting (stairs, railings, and all wood surfaces)
- Cleaning windows
- Cleaning up the basement (which serves as their playroom)
- Putting away anything that is on the stairs
- If needed, straightening up their bedroom room/closet
Sometimes Max will go to work with Ben and earn money from the work he does there. Claire decided that she’d like to do some bigger jobs at home to earn more money, so she created this sign. She works at them when she has time, and gets paid when she completes them. It’s actually been very helpful!
A couple of our favorite kid-friendly cleaning tools are: For dusting, this Norwex dusting mitt and this Swiffer dusterand for windows we love the Norwex enviro cloth and the Norwex window cloth.
The kids aren’t always enthusiastic about getting their work done, but they definitely love the reward at the end. 😏

🙄🤦🏽♀️ I told her he definitely needed to pay her more than 50 cents to clean his room.
