Claire loves Forrest Frank, and Forrest Frank just so happened to be at the Iowa State Fair on her 17th birthday. Seemed like the perfect surprise birthday present to me! 
She thought we were just going to have a nice, chill day at home doing all of her favorite things: swimming/reading/grilling/eating outside/boating/wakeboarding/tubing.
Instead, she opened up tickets to go see Forrest that evening. 
We didn’t leave until later that afternoon, so we still did all of her favorite things. 
We grilled for lunch, and had her favorite ice cream cake. 
And then she, Grace, and I headed to the fair.
We had cider slushies, cheesesteaks, and the famous fair cookies. We saw the butter cow and rode the skyliner. 
We even ran into friends! 
But of course the best part was listening to this guy right here:
His show was amazing, and his love for the Lord and desire to spread the gospel was incredible. We loved every second.
As soon as Forrest left the stage, we stayed right in our seats and enjoyed the most incredible drone show! 
And immediately following the drone show was a long fireworks display. It was the perfect ending to a pretty perfect 17th birthday celebration for our sweet girl.
